Holiday Morning Brunch Bread is bursting with the flavors of sun-dried tomatoes and a trio of cheeses complemented by seasoned butters. The bread is the simplest of yeast doughs - no kneading required! Just mix the batter, let it rise and then into the oven! It's baked and served in an iridescent holiday green tree-shaped pan - making a very festive presentation.

Each of the butters has a distinctive flavor that adds zing to every bite of bread. Cilantro-Lime, Chipotle-Chili or Basil-Garlic Butter make an even more special presentation when molded into holiday shapes using candy molds.

Holiday Morning Brunch Bread

Ingredients
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup (about 4 ounces) shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup (about 2 ounces) shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1/4 cup (about 2 ounces) grated Asiago cheese
  • 1/4 cup sun-dried tomatoes in oil, drained well and finely chopped

Preparation
    1. Spray Iridescents Tree Pan with vegetable pan spray; set aside.
    2. Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, garlic powder and salt; set aside. In medium saucepan, combine buttermilk, water and butter; heat over medium-high heat 3 to 4 minutes or until mixture is warm and butter is melted. Pour into large mixing bowl; sprinkle yeast over mixture. Allow to stand 5 to 8 minutes or until mixture is doubled and bubbly. Whisk in eggs. Add flour mixture; stir until well combined. Stir in cheeses and tomatoes. Spread batter evenly into prepared pan. Cover with lightly oiled plastic wrap; let rise in warm, draft-free place for 30 to 35 minutes.
    3. Preheat oven to 325°F. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until golden brown. Cool bread in pan 10 minutes. Serve with Savory Celebration Butters.

Ingredients
Cilantro-Lime Butter
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon grated lime zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh lime juice
Chipotle-Chili Butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon chipotle chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated lime zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh lime juice
Basil-Garlic Butter
  • 2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh basil
  • 1 small clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

Preparation
    1. Combine 1/2 cup (1 stick) softened butter with desired ingredients as listed below; mix well. Press into candy molds; refrigerate 15 to 20 minutes or until hardened. Pop butters out of molds onto serving plate. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.

Makes about 20 butter pats
