(Family Features) - Eating together as a family isn't just about food. It's about family. Gathering around the table to talk, share stories and laugh is a great way to stay connected and creates lifelong memories. But with hectic schedules, busy families can't always eat dinner together.

So why not switch up the traditional family meal - and make it breakfast instead? A relaxed family breakfast on a weekend morning can be the perfect remedy for the week's typical morning rush hour. And it doesn't have to be a lot of work. Have the kids set the table and let them help whip up their favorite pancakes or muffins. Let everyone stay in their pjs and leisurely enjoy catching up with each other over coffee, tea or juice.

The simple ritual of making time to listen and share more than just a meal may not seem like much. But it's a valuable investment in family that will pay off for years to come.
