Your "Best Life" Within Reach

Creamy Mango Salsa With Light Mayonnaise
Tea-Scented Couscous
Magically Moist Salmon With Light Mayonnaise

(Family Features) - Bob Green, Oprah's personal trainer, suggests you look no further than your kitchen cupboard for help in feeling and looking your best. Greene's latest best-seller, "Best Life Diet," focuses on practical ways to make easy, healthful choices for lasting weight loss.

"The primary goal of the Best Life Diet is to change the way people eat for life - making healthier choices that achieve lasting weight loss," Greene said. To help consumers make smart choices, Greene created a Best Life seal of approval for foods he recommends. This seal can help where many key food choices are made - at the grocery store.

Impressed by many food companies' efforts to offer great tasting, nutritious foods for weight management and better health, Greene includes many household brand food products and real-life recipes in the "Best Life Diet." These items make it easy to follow his weight loss approach.

Best Life Food Tips

  • Staying hydrated is an important factor in weight loss - and tea is second to water. One of Greene's personal favorite drinks is Lipton Pyramid Green Tea with Mandarin Orange, made with long leaf tea and real pieces of fruit.
  • Eating and cooking with good fats - those with no trans fat or cholesterol, and high in mono- and polyunsaturated fats, and those containing healthy omega-3 fats - are important for heart health and satiety. Bertolli Olive Oil, Hellmann's and Best Foods' Canola and Light Mayonnaises bear the Best Life seal and all contain the good fats.
  • Controlling calories is key to weight loss and control. Wish-Bone Salad Spritzers Vinaigrette Dressings are packaged in easy-to-use spray bottles that offer great control over the amount of dressing added to a salad with only one calorie per spray.
  • To jump-start your weight loss - reduce calories for one meal a day using a meal replacement. Also, Greene says that using mini-meals can be critical in helping with hunger control. Slim-Fast meal replacement shakes and bars are scientifically proven to help control hunger.

Greene partnered with companies, such as General Mills, Florida Citrus and Unilever, who have shown a commitment to improving the nutritional profile and ingredients of their products.

"Making it easier for consumers to choose 'better for you' products is central to our corporate mission," said Doug Balentine, Director Nutrition Science the America's for Unilever. "As part of our nutrition enhancement program, Unilever has eliminated more than 25,000 tons of fat, 10,000 tons of sugar and 2,000 tons of sodium, globally, from our products. In the U.S., our Eat Smart/Drink Smart labeling program helps shoppers make smart, nutritious choices."

The Best Life Diet helps us realize that healthful eating is as close as our kitchen cabinet. By choosing trusted, familiar brands which are easy to spot in the supermarket, consumers are able to maintain a lifetime of healthy eating that is simple and doable.
