Ingredients
- 4 1/2 cups day-old bread, cubed
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 10 eggs, slightly beaten
- 2 (12-ounce) cans evaporated milk
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- Fresh ground pepper to taste
- 1 (12- or 16-ounce) package Jimmy Dean Fresh Breakfast Sausage (cooked, crumbled and drained)
- 1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced, optional
- 1/2 cup tomatoes, chopped, optional
Preparation
1. Place bread in well-buttered 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
Sprinkle with cheese.
2. In medium bowl, combine eggs, evaporated milk, mustard,
salt, onion powder and pepper. Pour mixture evenly over
bread and cheese. Sprinkle sausage and optional ingredients
over top. Cover and chill overnight or for 2 hours.
3. Heat oven to 325°F. Bake 55 to 60 minutes or until knife
inserted in center comes out clean. Tent with foil if top
begins to brown too quickly.
