A recipe for Down Home Sausage Gravy
Ingredients
- 1 package Regular Flavor Jimmy Dean Pork Sausage
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
- 6 tablespoons all purpose flour
- 2 cans (12 ounces each) evaporated milk
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 to 2 teaspoons black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce (optional)
- 12 warm biscuits
Preparation
Cook sausage and onion in skillet over medium heat until
sausage is no longer pink and onion is translucent. Stir in
flour; mix well. Gradually stir in milk, water and salt;
bring to simmer and cook until mixture thickens, stirring
constantly. Add pepper and pepper sauce as desired; cook 2
more minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve over split
biscuits.
