Crunchy Pecan Shortbread Bars

A recipe for Crunchy Pecan Shortbread Bars
Ingredients
- 1-1/4 cups flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1/3 cup maple-flavored syrup
- 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1-1/2 cups Post Selects Maple Pecan Crunch Cereal
Preparation
Prep: 10 minutes Bake: 45 minutes
1. MIX flour and granulated sugar in medium bowl. Cut in 1/2 cup butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press
crumb mixture firmly on bottom of greased 9-inch square
baking pan. Bake at 375°F for 20 minutes or until very
lightly browned.
2. MIX egg, syrup, brown sugar, 1 tablespoon melted butter
and vanilla until well blended. Stir in cereal until well
coated. Spread evenly over warm crust.
3. BAKE an additional 20 to 25 minutes or until topping is
firm around edges and slightly soft in center. Cool
completely on wire rack. Cut into 24 bars. Sprinkle with
powdered sugar or drizzle with melted semi-sweet baking
chocolate, if desired.
