A Sweet and Savory Holiday Snack

Bourbon Maple Sausage Bites

I'm back! This time with one of my favorite sweet and savory snacks: Bourbon Maple Sausage Bites. These bites are a perfect holiday breakfast, snack or treat! This recipe started somewhere and ended up somewhere completely different and I am not mad about it. That is what I love most about creating recipes; thinking you are creating one thing and ending up with something else.

These bites are savory and sweet with a hint of sassy (that’s the bourbon). They call for a few more steps than normal, but they are more than worth it and will definitely be a crowd-pleaser at your upcoming family get-together!

As always, let your girl know if you decide to test this one out!

Bourbon Maple Sausage Bites

            Nonstick cooking spray
1          package (12 ounces) maple sausage links, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1/2       cup maple syrup
1/2-1    tablespoon bourbon (optional)
2          tubes (8 ounces each) crescent rolls
1/2       cup brown sugar
1/2       cup chopped pecans

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F and spray muffin tin with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In skillet, cook and stir sausage pieces until warmed and lightly brown, about 4 minutes.
  3. In bowl, mix  maple syrup and bourbon, if desired.
  4. Unroll both tubes of dough; generously brush both sides of dough with maple syrup-bourbon mixture.
  5. Pull apart dough into pieces using perforated lines.
  6. Taking one piece at a time, squish dough into bottom of each muffin tin and sprinkle with brown sugar and chopped pecans. Top with sausage.
  7. Drizzle remaining maple syrup mixture evenly over muffin tins.
  8. Cook 15-16 minutes, or until crescent rolls are golden brown.
  9. Remove bites from muffin tins and let cool on plate to prevent syrup from hardening.

Note: Maple sausage links can be substituted for regular sausage or bacon.

Bianca Miller Little House in OP final

HI Sweet Humans - my name is Bianca and I am the human that runs Little House in OP. I am a lover of all things food, fashion, and making my home as cozy as possible. I am a teacher by day and an entrepreneur by night. I have lived all over this crazy place (Australia, New York City, North Carolina) yet, I ended up right back where I started in good ole' Kansas City. I have worked on the Today Show as a stylist and even dabbled in radio, now I happily reside as a teacher to a bunch of wonderful little humans! As I have settled into a career, I have been able to explore my other interests like FOOD! Below you'll find one of my NEWEST recipes! I hope you enjoy these little boats of deliciousness as much as I do! xo, BRM.
